1st Step Behavioral Health is a licensed dual-diagnosis, long-term treatment center specializing in substance use disorders. As a comprehensive alcohol and drug rehab facility, they support individ
uals and families affected by addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Their full continuum of care includes medical detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient services.
Medical detox typically lasts 3–10 days, during which clients receive daily medical evaluations, 24/7 monitoring, proper nutrition, and vitamin support. Following detox, clients transition into residential treatment—usually a 30-day program that incorporates a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, 12-Step programming, individual counseling, Gestalt therapy, animal-assisted therapy, and gender-specific groups. Educational classes such as relapse prevention, healthy communication, goal setting, and coping skills further reinforce long-term recovery. Dual-diagnosis support is available through specialized groups and medication management.
1st Step also offers a dedicated treatment track for professionals such as police officers, firefighters, and paramedics, addressing the unique stressors and occupational challenges associated with these careers.
Located just north of Fort Lauderdale in Pompano Beach, 1st Step provides comfortable, condo-style housing in a sunny Florida setting. Clients share gender-specific units with one other person, each with their own full-size bed. On-site amenities include a pool and inviting outdoor common areas. With a client-centered philosophy and a commitment to high-quality care, 1st Step Behavioral Health is accredited by The Joint Commission and accepts most private insurance plans.

Absolutely! First Step facility encourage all prospective clients to get a better feel for our program by offering a tour of the facility. First Step facility kindly ask that you contact us first so we can arrange a day and time.
Preventing relapse and ensuring a successful recovery is the main focus of post-rehab programs. Aftercare can include group therapy or individual counseling sessions at the facility. It can also mean partaking in a step-down program, such as outpatient treatment. First Step facility offer a variety of options in aftercare planning ranging from outpatient programs and alumni services to recovery meetings at our facility.

Most certainly. However, it does depend on your specific treatment program. First Step facility offer outpatient rehabilitation and partial hospitalization programs to those with serious obligations outside of treatment. No matter how busy your schedule is, we’ll work around it and ensure that our program suits your needs best.
The exact cost of treatment will vary based on the specific program you choose. Residential treatment offers the most intensive level of care with full access to amenities and around-the-clock care. Thus, this is typically the most expensive option. First Step facility more flexible options such as outpatient treatment will be significantly less expensive. The exact cost of treatment will also be dependent upon your insurance coverage.

If you’re not insured, don’t lose hope. Fortunately, there are other methods of financing treatment at our facility. You may qualify for a loan or perhaps you can create a fundraising page to earn money.
